Separate useful information from account access
Start with opening hours, contact information and links to your existing guest resources. A Business page works for a concise property introduction; a List of links can organize dining, transport and local information.
Keep room-specific bookings, payments and personal details inside your established guest portal. A code printed in a room can be scanned or photographed by anyone with access to it, so it should not expose a guest’s private information.
Choose the right kind of Wi-Fi help
A static Wi-Fi code embeds network details for compatible devices. It is useful for a guest network whose credentials stay fixed, but changing those embedded details requires replacing the printed code. Some networks still need a separate captive-portal login.
A dynamic guest-information page can carry updated connection instructions, but it needs internet access to open. Keep the network name and essential connection guidance readable on the card for guests who are not yet online.
Treat the guide as part of room readiness
Include a quick destination check in your regular property review. Seasonal opening hours and third-party transport links can become outdated even when the QR image is unchanged. Name a staff member who can approve updates.
Keep reception contact details available without scanning, and test cards in dim room lighting. Ask a colleague to find breakfast information on a phone with a larger text setting; that often reveals crowded layouts before guests do.
Questions worth settling first
Can a guest open the guide before connecting to Wi-Fi?
A hosted page requires an internet connection, such as mobile data. Print essential connection information on the card so the guide is not the only route online.
Will a Wi-Fi QR bypass a login portal?
Not necessarily. Device support and network configuration determine what happens after scanning, and a captive portal may still require the guest to sign in.
Put the guide into practice
Start with one useful destination.
Create and customise a static QR code, then sign up or log in to download it for free. Need to edit after printing? Explore dynamic codes with a seven-day Business trial, no card required. An active plan is needed to keep dynamic codes running after the trial and grace period.
